Do You Need a Permit to Remove a Tree in Grants Pass?
Usually, no. If the tree is on your private property, you can remove it without a permit. That’s the simple version.
Here’s where it gets more specific:
Heritage Trees. The city has at least 3 designated Heritage Trees. If yours might be one, check with the city before touching it.
Right-of-way trees. Trees between the sidewalk and the street belong to the city. Removing one — or even pruning one — requires a free permit from the City of Grants Pass.
Utility lines. Pacific Power requires 10 feet of clearance around primary lines. That work gets handled differently than a standard removal, and we can help you sort out who does what.

Wildfire Risk and Fuels Reduction in Grants Pass

I’m Owens Ryon. Phoenix Sun Tree Care is named after my son, Phoenix. It’s rooted in the things that matter to me: honesty, integrity, and a deep respect for trees.
I’ve been working with trees for over 15 years. I believe trees deserve better than rushed cuts and quick fixes, so I focus on long-term health, clean work, and advice you can trust.
I won’t sell you work you don’t need. If I think a tree’s better left alone, I’ll tell you. And if something needs to come down, I’ll make sure it’s done safely and with respect for your land.

Work within 10 feet of primary utility lines falls under Pacific Power’s jurisdiction, not ours. We’ll let you know upfront if your job involves that clearance zone and help you figure out who handles what — so nothing gets started without the right people involved.
